Courses that lead nowhere taken off league tables,A list of over 3,000 vocational courses will be whittled down to just 70 GCSE equivalents. The first league tables that will be reflective of the changes will be published from January 2015 onwards.

Many schools are said to be using these courses, which include nail technology, tourism and fish husbandry, to boost their league table positions, as results for these topics tend to be higher than more traditional subjects.
